Week 1: Grayscales Using pencils and paper students will create their won 8 step grayscale. Once completed, the grayscale will be used to do a tone-value still life sketch. |

Week 2: Color Theory
Students will mix primary colors on watercolor paper to construct a color wheel. |

Week 3: Vincent Van Gough
A overview of impressionistic techniques will be discussed. Students will on their shading and color theory knowledge by utilizing those skills in pastels |

Week 4: Andrew Weyth
Andrew Weyth will be discussed. Students will use pen and watercolors keeping in mind the use of shadows and shadow sizes to convey a sense of emotion in space. |

Week 5: Horizon Lines
Students will learn about the use of horizon lines in landscapes to convey space, mood and drag the eye of viewer in. Students will complete 3 sketches with charcoal. High horizon (sense of space, high drama), middle horizon (stale space, lowest drama, harder to draw the eye in ) and low horizon. (Sense of space focus is on the sky or background, high drama.) |

Week 6: Build A Canvas
Students will build a canvas using stretchers, cotton duck, a stapler and canvas pliers. When completed they will prime the canvas’ with gesso. |

Week 7: Photo-graph Transfer
Students will bring in a photo. They will transfer the outline for their photo onto their stretched canvases by graphing. |

Week 8: Acrylic Painting on Canvas
Students will combine all previous skills to complete a final painting. |
